OPG = Other People’s Garbage

MVC-036X

Sometimes we have stuff that we just don’t know what to do with. We stick it here or there and then move away, leaving it behind. This is the point where it becomes OPG, or Other People’s Garbage.

This is what is currently remaining in a pile of OPG that I inherited when I purchased my mobile home. This whole area behind the shed was actually packed full of multiple items including furniture.

Instead of stressing out about this and the other large area of OPG that was left behind I simply take a moment every now and then to drag my trash curbie back there to load some of it up. That large barrel has a significant dent made in it after this current round.

As I work I cannot help but think of all the other things I have left behind to become OPG. Perhaps this is some kind of Karma coming back to bite me for all the junk I’ve left behind over the years.

Regardless of the truth, both the stuff I left behind and the OPG I have inherited could have been avoided by some active decision-making. Instead of saving these items they could have been given away or discarded immediately, giving the area a cleaner and safer appearance and eliminating the large volume of work that is now left behind.

Do you have any OPG laying around? Are you consciously working to eliminate it, or are you trying to forget that it exists?
